Those struggles in raising nine boys stretched their faith and endurance and taught them self-sacrifice, which was later passed on to the church family. Their children called them Papa and Mama, and some of the antics of those nine boys are described in the book. The people in their church also called them Papa and Mama, and they came to be known as Papa and Mama to thousands of people. Most of these people met them in their home in Staunton, Virginia, where they were inspired by the Knopps’ family life, their love for others, their humility, and their faith. And most of those people have moved away and live around the country and even around the world today. The lives of the Knopps have therefore had an impact on the world.
