Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of Sulfuric Acid production from sulfur The process examined is a conventional process comprising sulfur burning followed by catalytic conversion of sulfur dioxide to sulfur trioxide and single contact absorption process. In this process, sulfur is oxidized to sulfur dioxide and then converted by catalysis to sulfur trioxide, which is then absorbed in a recirculated stream with sulfuric acid.
