Secondly, the book also honors through poetry the Taíno natives of Puerto Rico who were decimated by Columbus and his men who primarily were in search of gold. It is a short story that of the Taíno natives and the author tells the story in his series of poems. The bilingual reader will benefit most being able to read the poems in both Spanish and English.
