Book excerpt: Excerpt from Report of the Department of Fisheries of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania From June 1, 1903, to November 30, 1904 In carrying on my work, I wish to express my hearty appreciation of the cordial assistance which was given by my office force. My clerk, Major Barton D. Evans, has exhibited intense interest in his duties and in their performance has been neglectful of time. He has been found regularly at his desk in the evenings as well as during the day, and during my frequent absences through the State on official business I have felt that the Office was safe in his care. While his duties were not of such a varied character as those of Major Evans, yet I can give the same measure of praise to my stenographer, \villiard R. Black. He too has exhibited an unselfish and warm interest in the Department and has always been at com mand when needed. Before entering into detail on the work of the Department for the year, it may be well to lay before you in summary form some of the things which have been accomplished during the fiscal year.
