Book excerpt: Excerpt from Report of the Auditor of Accounts, of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, for the Year Ending December 31, 1874 The Auditor's Report in each year shall show the aggregate amount of funded debt at the beginning and end of the year respectively, the balance of increase or decrease, and a statement of the cause of such balance; and in like manner shall show the aggregate amount of all temporary loans at the beginning and end of the year, the balance of increase or decrease, and a statement of the cause of such balance. The report shall likewise state whether the ordinary expenses of the year have exceeded the income, or the contrary, and show the amount of balance.
