Book excerpt: Many benefits of integration are apparent, however, there is a paucity of research results on the effects of crop-animal interactions, quantitative data, and economic analysis. limited evidence does confirm clear advantages of the system. More vigorous research and development efforts are necessary to study the effects of animal integration on the parent crops and effects of primary crop management on small ruminants. Mechanisms for extending the value of integrated systems are essential to enhance the livelihood and food security needs of farmers, growth and conservation goals. [Author's abstract].
