Book excerpt: The papers and abstracts included in this volume were presented at a special meeting on hydro-ecology and represent a broad spectrum of scientific studies conducted under the Arctic Environmental Strategy. The water component of the Strategy had specific objectives to establish an enhanced management regime through comprehensive monitoring networks and to develop specific studies to support sustainable development and ecosystem health.
