Book excerpt: Pet Wars is a story about a lovable puppy named Wolf, a fluffy kitten named Miss Lion and a wise talking parrot named Polly. Wolf and miss Lion lived with their human parents they call Mom and Dad. Wolf and Miss Lion knew that they would be the best of friends forever. However, Polly the parrot told them that because they are so different that in time they will one day not behave as the best of friends which could lead them both into trouble. Then one horrible day, they overheard mom and dad talking about getting rid of one of them, leaving poor Wolf and Miss Lion to only guess as to which one of them it will be. Wolf and Miss Lion began to argue and fight among themselves as to who is the better pet. Finally, they asked Polly to decide for them as to who is the better pet and who should stay and who should go. Which pet will Polly choose? Which pet would you choose? More importantly, what will mom and dad do? Read on and find out?
