Book excerpt: Samuel Morse (1585-1654) and his family, immigrated to America in 1635 and settled at Dedham, Massachusetts. Record traces line of descent to Francis William Morse (1861-1947) of the 9th generation. He was born at Homer, near Lockport, Will County, Illinois, the only child of Ira Curtis Morse (1829-1908) and Olive Maria Landfier Morse (d. 1903). He married Phebe Atwater Kelsey (1863-1829) in 1881. They had six children, 1882-1902. The family moved to Newberg, Oregon, in 1908. Francis and Phebe Morse are buried in the Friends Cemetery, Newberg, Oregon. Descendants lived in Oregon, Idaho, and elsewhere.
