Book excerpt: This publication derives from a workshop on Attracting Investment in the Arab World held in Beirut 28-30 September 1998. Although several Arab countries have been successful in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), the flow to the Arab world has not kept pace with the upward global trend. These papers examine the issues with respect to the regulatory and institutional frameworks for investment and include case studies on Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
