As a young boy, it was my job to till the garden plot and get things ready for planting. To me, the best part of having a garden, especially a vegetable garden, was harvest time. The tomatoes, okra, peppers and corn would be canned or eaten at family cookouts. That harvest tradition continues today in my house where the garden bounty is used in everything from fresh salsa and canned pickles to grilled vegetables at our barbecues. I even maintain grapevines that produce semi-sweet grapes that are turned into wine for Christmas presents. Gardening is also a way that families can spend quality time together, thus continuing the tradition. I hope you enjoy this book and that you find some valuable information to make your garden experience fun and enjoyable.
