Book excerpt: Excerpt from Famous Kentucky Tragedies and Trials, Vol. 3: A Collection of Important and Interesting Tragedies and Criminal Trials Which Have Taken Place in Kentucky For nearly two thousand years this event has been the subject of constant discussion; the suffering in Gethsemane, the perspiration of blood, the nails through His hands and feet, the riven side, the crown of thorns and the death on the cross, have awakened the sympathies of men and have brought the world to realize the infinite compassion of a God.
