Book excerpt: In the year of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, this volume aims at providing an overview of the evolution of the United Nations system. It analyses the continuity of the policy and innovation in the UN system, with a special focus on the role of the United Nations in the promotion of sustainable development. In this regard, the volume examines how the concept of sustainable development has emerged in the UN framework and what is the current status of implementation of the plan of action launched in 2015 and further implemented with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
