Book excerpt: The Area Partnership for Economic Expansion (APEX) requested the study to Investigate the market and economic feasibility of introducing mass timber manufacturing (e.g. cross-laminated timber (CLT) production). CLT is a wood panel system that has been gaining popularity after being widely adopted in Europe. CLT can be described as large-scale, prefabricated, engineered wood panels. It is made up of several layers of dimension lumber stacked in alternating directions, bonded with structural adhesives, and pressed to form a solid, rectangular panel. Its strength, dimensional stability, and rigidity make it an advantageous construction material.
