He was the grandfather of James Cooper (1660-1732) who was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England and immigrated to America in about 1682. He settled in Philadelphia and raised a family of eight children. Descendants moved to Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky and Alabama.
