The relationship between Mark and Alice adds romance, conflict, and comedy. Dennis, the youngest son, continually adds embarrassment to Mark, Alice, and himself. Mark eventually finds himself in an enviable position, which will enable him to develop his hybrid Bison-blend cattle.
