Book excerpt: Abstract: An approximate method is presented for the estimation of the properties of the incompressible laminar boundary layer on a flat plate in the slip-flow regime using Kármán's momentum method. These results are compared with results for a normal boundary layer at the same Reynolds number to bring out the characteristics of a slip boundary layer. A simple criterion for the importance of slip is presented.
