Book excerpt: As an application of the new model, we focus on modeling and analysis of method comparison studies. These studies are concerned with evaluation of agreement in two or more competing methods of measuring a continuous variable to determine whether the methods can be used interchangeably. We adapt the existing methodology for agreement evaluation based on mixed models by modeling the method comparison data using the proposed model. We also illustrate the application of this methodology by analyzing a real method comparison study involving measurement of lengths of claws of fiddler crabs ( Uca mjoebergi ).
