We shall begin with a consideration of the Biblical doctrine of providence, which all four theologians believed they were interpreting. All thought that God watches over his own, as Psalm 121 indicated: 'Behold He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.' Hence the title of this book, The vigilant God." (Introduction).
