This volume, written by a transatlantic team of historians, aims to contribute to our knowledge about the relationship between war, trauma and medicine in Germany and Central Europe between 1914 and 1939. The papers seek both to challenge and expand prevailing narratives and interpretations as well as to provide incentives for new approaches to a more comprehensive understanding of medicine in the First World War and its aftermath.
