But when we read the tax laws, we find no mention of interest and because interest is not mentioned, is it not well and proper to conclude that the legislature did not have interest in mind and for that reason did not intend to include interest? If such a proposition as has been advanced by the Attorney-General had been for a moment_ in the mind of the legislature, would not the legislature have mentioned interest? The definitions of "amount" given by the commonwealth, are generally inapplicable.
