Book excerpt: The ageing of the population can present serious challenges to developed Western nations, particularly with respect to the care needed for a growing number of older people. Migrant or foreign-born care workers are increasingly employed as caregivers for older adults, yet little is known about this workforce. This report is a synthesis and comparison of original research carried out during a multi-year project by teams in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the United States. The research draws insights from secondary data, as well as primary data collected from migrant care workers, care providers, and older adult care users.
