She was only 24 when she died from tuberculosis on September 30, 1897. Therese was canonized as a saint on May 17, 1925 by Pope Pius XI. She remains one of the most popular saints, and is revered by Catholics and others worldwide as a model of sanctity, devotion, and simplicity. Included are 12 pages of photographs.
