Book excerpt: In recent years, MNCs doing business in international markets have suffered from their exposure to heightening political risks. However, despite representing a vital and unavoidable concern to investors, little effort has been made in the business and academic communities to address the question in a practical, risk management and firm-oriented perspective. Consequently, this paper supports the importance for 21st century's MNCs to rethink their approach towards political risk as well as to realize the imperative necessity to develop a political risk management solution. The purpose of this paper is to fill this void by drawing on both the political risk and enterprise risk management fields, in order to recommend a comprehensive and useful Enterprise Political Risk Management (EPRM) framework.
