Book excerpt: Excerpt from On Jurisprudence and the Conflict of Laws It will be remembered that the whole Of these five Lectures were delivered and published just forty years ago, and they are based on the books then current and reflect the views of that day. But as they are almost entirely historical, it does not seem to me that subsequent authorities have displaced or superseded them. What is needed in the way of reference to recent books will be found in the Annotations of my colleague. I am aware that my suggestion of a new name for Private International Law has not been accepted by some eminent authorities. But their criticism has not con vinced me, and, as the discussion it aroused was a fact in legal history, I allow it to remain here without further argument.
