E. T. Winkler, D. D., was called to order at half-past 11 o'clock by the vice-president, Rev. J. O. B. Dargan, D. D. Prayer by Rev. Thomas Dawson. The Secretary being absent, Rev. J. F. Morrall was requested to act as Secretary pro tem. The Chair appointed a Committee on Credentials, consisting of Brethren L. H. Shuck, J. K. Mendenhall, B. W. Edwards, W. D. Rice, R. S. Griffin.
