In the four hundred years that have elapsed, the influence Of neither has been lost, but for most Of the time that Of the theologian has been far the greater in moulding the Opinions of men and in influencing the affairs Of the world; but it must be acknowledged that the spirit of the twentieth century finds much more to harmonize with its tendencies in the restless spirit Of inquiry and the readiness to enter into new paths Of posi tive knowledge which da Carpi typified, than in the theological reasonings Of a Calvin.
