Book excerpt: Excerpt from Directory of the American Agricultural Organizations, 1920 In its compilation lists based on the latest authentic facts have been brought up to date through the courteous cooperation of the chiefs of various bureaus of the United States Department of Agri culture, that of State commissioners of agriculture or other State agricultural officials, and of the general secretaries of the great national farmer organizations like the National Grange, the National Board of Farm Organizations, and similar associations. The correct and complete lists returned by these general secretaries (for the farmer organizations) and by these State departments of agriculture (for the State organizations) have been the final author ity in preparing the Directory. Such lists were received from 43 States and from approximately two-thirds of the 410 national and regional agricultural organiza tions listed. The farmer organizations of State scope were reported to us by the national organizations of the same class, or by the State commissioner of agriculture.
