These include moisture content determination in fresh concrete, dewatering and accelerated thermal curing of precast concrete as well as processing of construction wastes Microwave-accelerated processing (MAP) is one potentially useful technology for rapid conditioning or drying of cement-based products. Whilst research in this area is still in its infancy, results of preliminary investigations are promising. This paper discusses the basic principles of MAP as well as the range of potential applications, drawing upon recent results of preliminary work carried out at CSIRO.
