In Providence street the cement pipe was laid for a light pressure in 1864. In 1872 a connection was made with the high service and this pipe subjected to a pres sure of from ninety to one hundred pounds per square inch, and has frequently burst, sometimes doing extensive damage to the highways and also to private property.
